About the Role:

CGI is hiring a Senior Software Engineer / SDS Author with expertise in global chemical regulatory compliance and hazard communication. The role involves creating and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS), labels, and associated documentation using the CGI PS360 platform or similar tools. The engineer will collaborate cross-functionally with regulatory and toxicology teams to ensure compliance with international chemical regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Author, update, and maintain SDSs, labels, and hazard communication documents using CGI PS360.
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance with GHS, REACH, CLP, OSHA HCS, WHMIS, and other global standards.
  • Analyze chemical and toxicological data to assign correct hazard classifications and safety statements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (regulatory, product, toxicology) for data validation and documentation approval.
  • Oversee version control and support multi-language SDS generation and localization.
  • Stay updated with regulatory changes and incorporate them into safety documentation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, or related fields.
  • Minimum 1+ year of experience in SDS authoring or chemical compliance roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of international chemical classification systems and SDS formats.
  • Hands-on experience with CGI PS360 or similar SDS tools like The WERCS, SAP EHS, MSDGen.
  • Familiarity with chemical databases such as IUCLID and ChemIDplus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in GHS/SDS authoring or Product Stewardship (e.g., AIHA SDS Author Certificate).
  • Exposure to Poison Centre Notification tools, REACH systems, or SAP EHS modules.
